Hello and welcome to our channel! We are Alex & Emma, a British couple who have been exploring the world together for over 10 years - from backpacking to vanlife:

2012/13: We both embarked on our own solo backpacking trips through Southeast Asia, where we would eventually meet at a hostel in the mountains of Thailand and begin traveling together. After a year and a half of backpacking around Southeast Asia & Australia, we returned home and to the corporate world!

2015: Travel Beans was born and we filmed our first videos on a road trip around Europe with friends! This was our biggest trip yet.. and you can go back and watch the entire adventure because we filmed ALL of it! This trip took us through Russia, Mongolia & China, on the longest railway journey in the world. Followed by highlights such as staying on a local island in the Maldives for a month, going on safari in Sri Lanka, couchsurfing & hitchhiking in Korea, seeing the snow monkeys in Japan, island hopping in the Philippines, trekking 60km through the centre of Myanmar, exploring the Indian Himalayas, and checking out some of the incredible US National Parks.

2016: Despite an unbelievably memorable year and a half of travels, which we were incredibly grateful to have had the privilege to experience.. we found ourselves in New York City, battling depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head-on.

2017: After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle. We left the UK with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a continuous travel lifestyle happen! We both got online English teaching jobs to be able to fund our travels and to keep creating videos. We can't quite believe that our younger selves decided to take this plunge but we are so grateful they did as we are still on this journey today!

What now?
Over the years, we've discovered that we LOVE road trips and even decided to renovate our very own little VWT4 van into a campervan to be able to enjoy vanlife and spend more time on the road. We are now the proud owners of 2 awesome little campers - one based in the UK and one that we keep in the USA. You'll often find us using one of these vans to explore Europe and North America. Overlanding BOTSWANA Wild encounters in the Nxai Pans National Park & the Tuli Wilderness Reserve. This is an Adventure you have to do.

Botswana is adventure, for any overlanding enthusiast, and one place I find myself coming back to over and over again, is the Nxai Pans area, where we explore the South Camp area, and the spiritual place that is Baines Baobabs.

Overlanding in Botswana, and adventure traveling in the month of February to the Nxai Pan area is HOT, and I can't emphasis enough, that, this area is the furnace of Botswana, on account of the white reflective ancient Makgadikgadi lake bed sands. But, ol Ed and I pack up and make this 18 day adventure one to remember.

We visit, South Camp, Nxai Pans and make camp at campsite number 8, we make a stop at campsite number 2 at the infamous Baines Baobabs, and finally, we make it to the Mohave campsite in the Tuli Wilderness Reserve, Botswana's best kept secret.

What an offroad adventure expedition, and a big shout out to the @EpicAfrica and both Stewart and Julie from the Tuli wilderness Reserve.

Overlanding BOTSWANA | Okavango Delta & The Moremi Game Reserve | Adventure In the Wet Season

The Okavango Delta is Africa's Garden of Eden. It's a place filled with mystery at every corner, an adventurer's paradise, and a wildlife haven. This is a destination that we continually find ourselves wanting to go back to. And in this episode, we make the excuse to off-road adventure travel this amazing place.

Overlanding in Botswana and adventure traveling in the month of February to the Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana, isn't alwyas advised when the rain is falling. But, ol Ed and I pack up and make this 18 day adventure one to remember.

We visit, Woodlands Lodge and bush campsites, make a stop at Nata Bird Sanctuary just outside of Nata town, spend a night at Planet Baobab, and then, finally, we make it to the Moremi where we spend our first night at South gate, Maqwee campsites in the wilds of Botswana. Waking up the following day we make the drive through mud and water to Third bridge, in the NW of the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta. This is a specail place to wild camp, and we are in our absolute element with widlife sightings and the bush at their best.

What an offroad adventure expedition, and a big shout out to the ladies from the Xomae group for assisting us with campsite bookings both in the Moremi and the Nxai Pan National Parks.

On the first episode of "The Art of Punk" we dissect the art of the legendary Black Flag. From the iconic four bars symbols, to the many coveted and collected gig flyers, singles, and band t-shirts, all depicting the distinctive Indian ink drawn image and text by artist Raymond Pettibon. We start off in Los Angeles talking to two founding members singer Keith Morris, and bass player Chuck Dukowski, about what the scene was like in 1976 - setting the stage for the band's formation, as well as the bands name, and the creation of the iconic four bars symbol. Raymond Pettibon talks with us from his New York art studio. Back in LA we meet with Flea, from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, about how the art, the music, and that early LA scene impacted his own life and career. To wrap it all up we sit and talk at length, with Henry Rollins, at MOCA Grand Ave in Los Angeles, about all of the above and more.

In San Francisco we corner founding Dead Kennedy's member Jello Biafra, and discuss his own warped inspiration for the many sleeves and posters created in the early days of the band. Kate has been living full-time on this super charming tiny houseboat since 2020. In this video, she shares a full tour of her home on the water, as well as her experience as a liveaboard in a marina, including some of the challenges, the monthly expenses, the incredible community, the renovations and maintenance, how the systems work, and more!

The house boat is approximately 550-600 square feet, and includes the main level and the loft bedroom. Kate's houseboat is connected to city water and hydro electricity, and she has a septic tank for waste. She also has a high-speed internet connection at the dock which allows her to work from home.

Living on a boat year-round in Canada is not easy because of the harsh winters so to prevent ice from forming around her home, Kate has several bubblers installed around the pontoons that prevent the water from freezing. She also has a heat trace line to prevent her water line from freezing and she heats her home with a mix of the wood stove and electric wall heaters.
