In 2019, 43 million people in the United States lived below the poverty line, twice as many as it was fifty years before. 1.5 million children were homeless, three times more than during the Great Depression in the 1930s. Entire families are tossed from one place to another to work unstable jobs that barely allow them to survive. In the historically poor Appalachian mining region, people rely on food stamps for food. In Los Angeles, the number of homeless people has increased dramatically. In the poorest neighborhoods, associations offer small wooden huts to those who no longer have a roof.

WOSAKA tells the incredible story of Basil O’Connell-Jones, a thrill-seeking young man who, while in the Rhodesian Army’s Light Infantry, was shot in the head during a deployment, declared dead, and then returned to life 28 minutes later. Within those 28 minutes, Basil felt his soul leaving his body and experienced seeing his entire life flash before him. After coming back to life, he was told he would never walk, talk, or write ever again, a prognosis that would send him into depression and anger. For the next 18 months, he continually searched his heart and soul for answers, but found none. It wasn’t until an Army medic shared the Gospel and his conversion story with him that Basil found the answers and peace he was so desperately seeking.
Basil today has miraculously regained many of his abilities and has dedicated his life to Christ, serving his Church and sharing his life and testimony with people worldwide.

Sixty years of producing standardized fruits and vegetables and creating industrial hybrids have had a dramatic impact on their nutritional content. In the past 50 years, vegetables have lost 27% of their vitamin C and nearly half of their iron.
Take the tomato. Through multiple hybridizations, scientists are constantly producing redder, smoother, firmer fruit. But in the process, it has lost a quarter of its calcium and more than half of its vitamins. The seeds that produce the fruits and vegetables we consume are now the property of a handful of multinationals, like Bayer, and Dow-Dupont, who own them. These multinationals have their seeds produced predominantly in India, where workers are paid just a handful of rupees while the company has a turnover of more than 2 billion euros. A globalized business where the seed sells for more than gold.
According to FAO, worldwide, 75% of the cultivated varieties have disappeared in the past 100 years. Loss of nutrients, and privatization of life, reveal the industrialists’ great monopoly over our fruits and vegetables.

Some call it a useful dowry of evolution, others a fault in the human genetic make-up: The old mortal sin Greed seems to be more ubiquitous than ever. Why can't people ever get enough, where is this self-indulgence leading - and are there any ways out of this vicious circle of gratification?
"People like to have a lot of stuff because it makes them the feeling of living forever," says American social psychologist Sheldon Solomon, who believes today's materialism and consumerism will have disastrous consequences.
Anyone who fails to satisfy his or her desires in this age of the Ego is deemed a loser. But with more than 7 billion people on the Earth, the ramifications of this excessive consumption of resources are already clear. Isn’t the deplorable state of our planet proof enough that "The Greed Program," which has made us crave possessions, status and power, is coming to an end? Or is the frenzied search for more and more still an indispensable part of our nature? We set off to look for the essence of greed. And we tell the stories of people who - whether as perpetrators or victims or even just as willing consumers - have become accomplices in a sea change in values.
